GODZILLA INVADED MY DREAMS - $1281

Acrylic and paper collage on canvas. Godzilla Invaded My Dreams is the third painting in my Bursting collection. The name implies the feeling of the artwork seemingly bursting from the center or the void- much like the feeling you get when falling in love when you least expect it. It's done in an abstract style with bold lines inspired by the likes of Piet Mondrian but in a more radial fashion and with a much more subdued color palette. Some may look at this piece and feel as though they are getting sucked in to the void as opposed to bursting outward- with the ultimate interpretation being left to the observer.

The name, Godzilla Invaded My Dreams, came about because when I finished this piece and was looking for a name, it reminded me of the recurring nightmares I had as a child. The colorful center reminded me of the innocence of my childhood, while the surrounding darkness reminded me of my recurring nightmares. The lines being separated and sort of fractured is the loss of my innocence after Godzilla stomped into my dreams ripped the roof off my home to capture and eat me.

This piece was created with built up layers of acrylic paint- first painted on and then a wash technique is used on top. I use a specialty paper for the textured lines and it is hand-painted in layers and then dried before being applied to the canvas. Then an additional acrylic wash is placed on the canvas in select areas.

This artwork is signed and dated on the front and will be carefully packaged and shipped to you from my studio here in New Hampshire. Comes with a signed and dated Certificate of Authenticity.
Mixed media on canvas, 20"x20"x1.5".
